How to Make Perfume Last Longer: 8 Tips That Actually Work

Applying perfume in golden light

Ever wondered why the same perfume seems to last all day on one person and disappear by lunch on another? It usually comes down to how it was applied, not what was in the bottle. Here are eight habits that make any Eau De Parfum work harder.

1. Start with moisturised skin

Fragrance oils need something to hold on to. Dry skin lets scent evaporate quickly; a thin layer of unscented moisturiser applied before spraying can add hours to the drydown.

2. Target your pulse points

Wrists, neck, behind the ears, inside the elbows. These spots run warm, and warmth keeps a fragrance diffusing gently through the day instead of burning off in the first hour.

3. Never rub your wrists together

The classic move — spray, rub, go — actually crushes the delicate top notes and skips your perfume straight to its drydown. Spray and let it settle on its own.

4. Keep a 15cm distance

Spraying too close soaks one small patch; too far and most of it lands on air. Roughly 15cm away gives an even mist that dries into the skin properly.

5. Choose an EDP concentration

Eau De Parfum carries a noticeably higher fragrance-oil load than body sprays or EDTs. Every K-Lust bottle is an EDP — with two sprays you can expect 8–12+ hours depending on your skin and the weather.

6. Let the scent family do some work

Woody and amber compositions naturally outlast fresh ones. If longevity is your top priority, reach for a woody amber like Night Desire or a rich oud like White Oudh; fresh aquatics like Aqua Rush are built for daytime brightness and benefit most from tips 1–4.

7. Store it properly

Heat, humidity and sunlight break a perfume down. Keep bottles away from direct sunlight — the bathroom shelf above a hot shower is the worst home a fragrance can have. Stored well, a bottle stays true for 36 months from manufacture.

8. Spray, don't spray again (yet)

More sprays don't equal more hours — they equal a louder first hour. Two sprays are plenty for a closed room, three or four for an evening out. If you stop smelling your own perfume mid-day, that's usually nose fatigue, not the scent dying; the people around you can still smell it.

Scent that walks in before you do, and stays in the room after you've left.

That's the goal — and with the right application, any K-Lust bottle will deliver it.
